About Director Kaan Akalin
Kaan Akalin is a filmmaker who creates striking images for film and television, practising both cinematic and computer graphics techniques in his craft. Kaan successfully leads projects as a director and cinematographer, from conception to the end of intensive post-production phases where he is either the sole or lead 3D artist.

Constantly striving to refine and expand the multi-disciplinary storytelling and imagemaking approach he has cultivated, Kaan is always searching to find new opportunities to fuse and juxtapose live action with animation to surreal effect.

Kaan received his BFA in Film from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, in 2002. While in school he wrote, directed and photographed the half-hour dramatic short film 'Patterns', which won the Canadian Society of Cinematographers Award for Best Cinematography in the student category.

Kaan also won Ryerson’s Medallion/PFA Award in Cinematography in his third year of studies. His final year at university marked Kaan's first foray into 3D animation, where he made a very well-received, unofficial music video for Coldplay. His Coldplay video garnered the attention of music producers interested in Kaan’s talent for creating visuals for music.

Kaan Akalin works independently out of Toronto, Canada, and is available for projects worldwide.
